The Agriculture

Wisconsin’s Central Sands area is one of the nation’s premier potato and processed vegetable production areas with over 200,000 acres of irrigated specialty crops with an economic impact of over $6 billion generating 35,000 jobs. The primary specialty crops grown in the area (with national rankings) are potatoes (3rd), cranberries (1st), green beans (1st), sweet corn (2nd), peas (3rd), carrots (2nd), beets (1st) and pickling cucumbers (3rd).
